Elizabeth Anne (Hughes) England | April 30, 1949 – November 19, 2012
Elizabeth ‘Beth’ England passed away Sunday evening, November 19, 2012 at her home in Elgin, Texas. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the daughter of Oran ‘Spec’ and Marie Elizabeth (McDermott) Hughes. She was married to her husband of 44 years, James ‘Jim’ England, who preceded her in death on April 18, 2012.
After marrying Jim in 1968, Beth lived and worked in San Francisco, CA, Tulsa, OK, and Corpus Christi, TX. After more than 25 years as a ticket agent with American Airlines, she retired in 1995 to focus on family, traveling, and hobbies. She and Jim moved soon after to the mountains of South Fork, CO near the Hughes’ cherished summer home. They recently moved to Elgin to be closer to family. Beth was a dedicated mother, an avid reader, cook, artist, and animal lover, and shared those lifelong loves with her four children.
She is survived by three daughters, Hildreth England (Mical), Sarah, and Meredith, and one son, Brock, all of Austin, Texas; her siblings Trish Garrison of Houston, TX, Bob (Dorothy) Hughes of Arlington, VA, John (Angie) Hughes of San Antonio, TX, Richard Hughes of Laredo, TX, Martha (Joe) Tepera of Amarillo, TX, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Her brother, Charles Hughes, preceded her in death in 1998.
Memorial services will be held at the home of Beth’s niece, Erin Garrison, in Austin, Texas from 3-9pm on December 8th, 2012.
