Doris Mae Prinz age 82 of Elgin passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born to Andrew Chestly and Edna Mae Weathers in Maysfield, Texas on September 27, 1930. Her childhood years were full of lean times and hard work, but through many stories she told of the love that was always in abundance.
At 18 years old she met and married Carl Gottlieb Prinz on July 9, 1949 and upon his death in 2004 they had been married 56 years. They were blessed with four children, Beverly Ann Prinz, Tommy Carl Prinz, Richard Earl Prinz, and Carla Denise Osborne.
She was a homemaker, waitress, and known to many as the “smiling face” of City Café; where she worked as a cashier for nearly two decades. To those closest to her, she was known for making the best pickles in the world.
She enjoyed singing, dancing, cat fishing, and could tell such wonderful stories. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom her cookie jar was always ready for.
She was strong-willed and generous with her heart and throughout the years took in many people needing a place to stay or a meal to eat. For in her house, there was always a full refrigerator, a hot stove, and a warm welcome for all….even up until her last days. She sacrificed much of herself to give to those around her, and will live on in all of our hearts. She will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured.
She is survived by her four children; Beverly, Tommy, Ric-e, and Carla; brothers, James Weathers and Larry Weathers; sisters, Faye Lindsey and Lois Sloan; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM, Monday, October 29, 2012, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 30, 2012, First Baptist Church, Elgin, Texas. Interment will follow at Type Cemetery.
