Ruth Ell Bennett
Ruth Ell Bennett, 91, of Elgin, Texas, died Wednesday morning, September 12, 2012, at the Elgin Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 3, 1920 in Elgin, Texas, to parents Harvey and Carrie Scott.
She married Troy Cleveland Bennett, Sr. in 1939. They were married for 62 years until his death in May of 2002. She was a homemaker. She was a Sunday School teacher, Women’s Missionary Union leader and active member of several churches during her life including Hillcrest Baptist Church of Austin, Killeen First Baptist Church and Elgin First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Carrie Scott, her brother, Ollie Scott, and her husband, Troy Cleveland Bennett, Sr.
Survivors include a son, Troy Cleveland Bennett, Jr. of Elgin; a son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Vicky of Plano, Texas; grandsons: Greg Bennett of Austin, Chris Bennett of Austin, and Brett Bennett of Dallas; granddaughter Marisa Lockhart and husband Jason of Plano; great-grandsons: Kevin Bennett of Austin, Alec & Cameron Bennett of Austin; Bennett Lockhart of Plano; sisters: Cecile Jones of Elgin; Dixie Wilson of Bastrop; Mary Bryan of Pflugerville; Jewel Anderson of Austin; Alma Ries of Elgin; brother-in-law Cecil and wife Ruth of Manor; and many nieces and nephews.
For those desiring, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice Austin or a charity of your choice.
The family will receive guests for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, September 14, 2012, at the Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Huddelston of First Baptist Church, Elgin, officiating. Interment will be held at Cook Walden Capitol Parks in Pflugerville.
