In Memoriam: Betty Dube 1947-2012
Betty Sue (nee Williams) Dube, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, fell asleep in Jesus and entered into eternal glory with God in heaven on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. She was born on September 5, 1947 to Frank and Frances Williams in Austin, Texas, and grew up in Elgin, Texas. Her parents and older brothers Jimmy and Jackie doted on their darling little freckled redhead as much as possible. On June 10, 1967 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Melvin Dube at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas. They resided in McDade, Texas, and their marriage was blessed with five children: Darren, Clint, Christi, Andy and Melanie. Betty worked as a program specialist for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Betty was reborn into God’s Kingdom by Holy Baptism in her youth and later confirmed her Christian faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas on July 19, 1967. For the rest of her life she remained a faithful member of this congregation, where her Christian faith was nourished by the Word of God and the Lord’s Supper. She served her Lord as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir, altar guild, and LWML. She enjoyed going to church, singing praises to the Lord with the beautiful voice He had given her, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and baking for her family, and reading.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Williams; and a son, Andy Dube. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Melvin; brother, Jim Williams and wife Patricia of Port Neches; four children, Darren Dube of Pflugerville, Clint Dube and wife Tammy of McDade, Christi Kleinert and husband Mike of Fairfield, and Melanie Dube of McDade; six grandchildren, Logan, Clayton, and Corbin Dube of McDade, and Bryson, Taryn, and Easton Kleinert of Fairfield; and a host of extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers for Betty’s funeral are Dennis Williams, Kyle Williams, Nick Pokorny, Mark Dube, Michael Dube, and Shawn Dube. Betty’s family extends their deepest gratitude to her sister-in-law Tricia for the untiring love and care she showed Betty during the days before her death. Though we mourn because of Betty’s death, we take comfort from the truth that she was saved for everlasting resurrected life by God’s grace, through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be glory forever!
