Fabian Emil Moczygemba

January 18, 1934 — July 5, 2012

F. E. “Flash” Moczygemba

Beloved husband of Shirley, Dad to Mark and Brian, “Papaw” to Amanda Moczygemba, Alesha & Doug Keeler, Jeremy and Jeanine Moczygemba, Courtney Montague, Sky Crain and Garrett McDermott. Flash passed from the loving arms of his family at Seton Medical Center on July 5th, 2012. He is survived by brothers Norman and Alton, sisters in law Darlene and Cecilia, mother in law Willie Mae McKinney, sister in law Patricia McCall and brother in law Kenneth McKinney; niece’s Pam; Sharon and Barbara; nephews Scott and Larry McCall; Alan; Larry; and Jeff Moczygemba; Kenny and Chris McKinney; great grandchildren Desirea; Jaden Taylor; and Landon Keeler and multiple cousins.

“Flash” and Shirley ran a successful HVAC contracting business for 25 years, having started Flash Refrigeration, Inc. at Sunrise Beach in 1962 and moved headquarters to Austin, TX in 1965. He and Shirley retired to the ranch in Elgin, TX in 1987. Unable to keep contracting out of their blood, they ran Flash Mechanical Contracting of Elgin from 1988 to 1992. When they began working just to get experience they completed all jobs and quit bidding. Flash was the first Texas Lennox dealer to prefab fiberglas duct systems and demonstrated this system to dealers across the US. He was the first dealer in Austin to carry both Lennox and Carrier units.

He and Shirley traveled with other HVAC contractors to London, Paris, Scotland, Puerto Rica and Germany and most of the Caribbean Islands. They were able to take their sons and mother in law to Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico City and Acapulco, Lake Tahoe and the Canary Islands. They took cruises and lived the good life. They lived life to the fullest, running to Port Aransas and Rockport at the drop of a hat. Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving were his favorite holidays because families would be coming to visit and sharing meals. He thought desserts were wonderful!

Flash was an avid hunter and fisherman, deer, elk and moose hunting in Colorado and pheasant hunting in Iowa but his favorite place was his ranch in Three Oaks (Wilson County) and hunting with son Mark in his last years. He caught his first sailfish in Acapulco and his last redfish in Rockport. He loved playing 42, 84, moon and straight dominos – but hated to lose.

He enjoyed being a member of the Downtown Coffee Club and keeping up the latest gossip. He was a past member of the Elgin Noon and Evening Lion Clubs and served as the District III Region Chair until his health declined in 2011. He was a Melvin Jones honoree.

He was so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and all their accomplishments!

His mother (Rosalie) and dad (Gus L) preceded him in death. He was born in Poth, TX (Wilson County) on January 18, 1934 and passed on July 5th, 2012

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Sunday, July 8, 2012 with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Celebration of Mass will be 10:00 Am Monday, July 9, 2012, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elgin. Interment will follow at Elgin Cemetery
