Elmer K. Danklefs

Elmer Kenneth Danklefs of Austin , Texas passed away February 16, 2012.
Kenneth was born November 20, 1922 in Garwood Texas. After spending his childhood in Elgin , Texas and graduating from Elgin High School , he joined the United States Navy and was a physical therapist in Kingsville , Texas . Following his military career, he attended and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin . He worked with his father, Elmer Harry Danklefs, at Elgin Implement Company. After starting as a teller, he worked his way up to Vice President of Elgin National Bank and continued his financial career as an auditor until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Harry Danklefs, mother Hildur Lundquist, step-mother Eva Carroll Danklefs, wife Betty Danklefs, brother J.A. “Bunts” Danklefs, his sister Lucille Whitmore. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Danklefs of Elgin, Texas; grandson Danny Lewis and his wife Heather of Elgin, Texas and great-grandson Hank; grandson John Bateman and his wife Annette of Uvalde, Texas and great-granddaughter Sandra; his step-children: William Edward Rivers and his wife Karla; Ruth Rivers Grady and her husband Robert; Rebecca Rivers Kieschnick, Jane Rivers Davis; grandchildren: William Howard, Kathlyn, Ellyn and Rebecca Rivers; Will Rivers Davis and Betsy Davis, Sarah Rathbun Pyles and husband Spencer, Lauren Rathbun Koenig and husband Rick, Jo Timblin Bruno and husband Jeff, Jill Williams Neuhaus and husband Ryan; nephews Dan Whitmore and Stobie Whitmore and niece Elsa Whitmore Morse; and dear friends Bud and Betty Lou McChristian.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gracy Woods Nursing Center for their support & kindness, with special thanks to Des and Christina for their wonderful care.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home at 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin , Texas 78621, (512)281-2340 . Funeral Services will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 216 West 3rd St , Elgin , Texas . Burial will follow in Elgin Cemetery. A reception will be held following the graveside at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship hall.

Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Elgin, Tx.

Services are entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin. Tx.
