Alvin August Siewert, 93, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Trudy and dear son, Jim. He died peacefully in his sleep at his current home in Elgin, Tx. on January 12, 2012.
Alvin is survived by daughters; Bunny (Wayne) Doebling of Cincinatti, OH, Tami (John) Stutz of Elgin, Tx. and son; Tom (Debbie) Siewert of Brandenburg, Ky.
He was the original owner of Al
vin’s Auto Service in Shively, KY and moved to Meade Co, KY in retirement where he farmed and joined the Meade Co. Fire Department. He lived an active life being involved not only in numerous Baptist churches as a deacon and trustee, but also Kiwanis International, Lions’ Club International, and numerous other charitable groups. He willingly gave his time as a mentor and friend to many sharing his expertise as a mechanic and his many stories. In 2002 he moved to Texas and continued his lifelong love of gardening and tinkering with old tractors and trucks.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Tx. at 2 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2012.
Another celebration of Alvin’s life will be held at the Meade County Fire Station, # 1, 1800 Armory Place, Brandenburg, Ky on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the American Bible Society or a local charity or church of your choice in his honor.
