Phillip Michael Harper

January 27, 1941 — December 16, 2011

Phillip Michael Harper passed away Dec. 16, 2011 after complications from surgery. He was born in Houston, Texas to Margaret Britt Harper and Duward Harper on January 27, 1941.

When he was growing up, his family were rice farmers and cattle ranchers from Brazoria County. He attended Alvin schools, St. Stephens Episcopal School in Austin, Texas; Staunton Military Academy in Virginia; and Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas.

He married Elaine Rosenbaum in 1974 and they moved to Selkirk Island and started a charter boat business in the early 80’s in Matagorda, Texas.
He was a school board member for Matagorda ISD and Republican Precinct #2 Chairman for several years.

He is survived by his wife; Elaine, sons; Bryan Glen Harper and wife Andrea Nelson; Christopher Phillip Harper and wife Shelley and their two children; Holden Reese Harper and Hailey Renee Breeding; and brother, Paul E. Harper and wife Theresa and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duward Roy Harper and two nephews; Woody Harper and John Harper.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Services were entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin, Tx.
