Richard Anthony Flores

June 5, 1985 — September 29, 2011

Richard (Ricky) Anthony Flores, affectionately known to all as “Birdie”, passed away September 29, 2011. He was the second child born to Richard Flores and Joyce Nelson on June 5, 1985.

He was blessed since birth with his huge smile and healthy lungs! He of course needed them to charm and repel both his older and younger sisters. Thus he met those challenges with spunk and ingenuity as you might imagine any brother would. Beyond hatching his next scheme against his beloved sisters, he loved playing baseball, riding his bike, and studying karate.

“Birdie” was a thinker, even though he would most likely tell you he was not. His mind was always moving from topic to topic. He wanted to understand how things worked from start to finish; a technique that helped shape him from his career to his family to his faith. He believed in helping those who needed help for whatever reason.

He leaves behind his wife Anisha Flores and the pride of his life, his boys, Jayden and Isaac as well as his father Richard Flores and mother Joyce Nelson (Raymond), sisters Mary Laws (Melvin), Méchelle West (Scot), Mikhaila Nelson, grandfathers Manual Flores and Joe Bowen, uncles Eric Flores, Chris Flores, Floyd Bowen, Tom Bowen, Tim Bowen (Amanda), aunts Mary-Alice Ortiz Flores, Rose-Mary Oliden (Joe), Joan Flores, Dolores Flores, Teresa Anderson (Charles), and Deborah Peters (JR). Additionally, numerous cousins and friends also survive him.

Grandmothers Mary O. Flores and Ruby Bowen as well as cousins Alan Ging and Robert Markert precede him in death.

Funeral service was held on Monday, October 3, 2011 with John Ahn officiating. Interment was held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Rangel, Mike Rangel, Eric Flores, Brandon Marx, Matt Burson, Michael Bowen, Brandon Bowen, and JB Anderson.

Arrangements by Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, TX.
