Lee Edward Dildy, age 61 of Elgin died on May 13, 2011. Born in Austin on September 20, 1949 to Harold and Betty Dildy, Lee was a life-long resident of Elgin. After attending the University of Texas Lee began working with his grandfather and father in Joe’s Toggery, a men’s clothing store on Main Street in Elgin. Later Lee established his own business, DIldy’s Western Wear.
Lee was currently serving as Bastrop County Commissioner, Precinct four, a position he had held for the past 20 years. Lee loved Bastrop County and was a passionate and dedicated community leader, integral in bringing CARTS to the county. Lee served as its board chairman. He also served as a working member on numerous committees and boards addressing housing finance, education, and health.
He was an active member of the Kiwanis, Elgin Chamber of Commerce, and served as an advisory director for the First National Bank of Bastrop. Lee was dedicated to his church, First Presbyterian Church of Elgin, and had been an elder and Sunday school teacher.
Outside of his very public persona Lee had a cherished private life with his wife of thirty-two years. Vivian Kasch and Lee were married on Sept. 29, 1979. But true joy entered his life when his daughter Megan was born in July of 1983.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Lee leaves future son-in-law Tanner Davis, mother Betty Dildy, sisters Diane Dildy and Jo Ellen Mayfield (Dayne, Cayden and Ana), niece Tessa Dildy, in-laws Mildred and Rayford Kasch, Vernon Kasch, Vincent Kasch (Theresa, Garrett and Amanda), and countless friends and colleagues.
Lee served many roles and impacted many lives. He was an anchor for his family, friends and community.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 3:30pm Monday, May 16, 2011 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel with Interment following at Elgin Cemetery.
