Raymond J Volluz

December 26, 1919 — March 9, 2011

Raymond J Volluz passed away recently after over 90 years of a full life. He spent his last hours at home, surrounded by his loving family, and passed, peacefully on his own terms.

Raymond was a proud graduate of the University of Colorado and went on to complete a 30 year career in Aerospace research and design, focusing on rocket and missile development. He began his work in the Pentagon's Bureau of Ordinance during World War II and subsequently worked for several major defense companies throughout the United States. He was involved in the Polaris, Lark and other programs. He was the founding president of the Supersonic Tunnel Association, bringing international cooperation and development to the field of wind-tunnel experimentation and development. He is the co-author of The Anatomy Of Combat, an engineering study on the quantitative comparison of different weapon systems. Because of this work, he was invited to present lectures to several International Symposia on Military Operational Research in England and the Military Operational Research Symposium in Quantico Virginia on his research during the 2000's.

After retiring from Aerospace, he embarked on another 30 year career in Austin Real Estate, working until he was 89 years young. In that time he worked for five companies in positions from Agent to Branch Manager. He was awarded as a million dollar producer for at least a third of the years during that time. His final position was as a mentor, training new agents in two different companies. Of his graduates, many went on to become million dollar producers themselves.

In the 1940s, he met and married Mary Ernestine Taylor, a native of Buffalo Gap, Texas. They are survived by three sons; Raymond, Cameron and Corbin.

Family and friends are invited to attend a quiet memorial service at Woodcliff Baptist Church, 11015 Dessau Road, Austin, TX 78754 on 19 March 2011 at 2:00 pm. Remembrances may be made in the form of donations to the Woodcliff Baptist Church Worship Team.
